A home away from home
If you are bored of the usual hotel-based break, and you yearn for something more homely, somewhere you can retire to at the end of the day, in a more comfortable surroundings, after hours of sightseeing or outdoor activities, then a holiday cottage break could be just for you.
When you take a short break in a holiday cottage then you are getting somewhere you can call a home for a short period of time, however long you choose to stay for, and these are often luxurious with a capital L.
Think about it – a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a cottage somewhere coastal in Cornwall, somewhere picturesque in the Cotswolds, or perhaps a Somerset hideaway – the options are endless.
So, what are the advantages of a holiday cottage break?
You can do what you want, when you want, nobody is watching, nobody is giving you schedules for breakfast and evening meals, you can cook your own food, you can go at your own pace, and you can relax in totally beautiful surroundings, as these types of cottages are never placed anywhere that isn’t truly scenic.
Of course, hotel-based holidays are still in fashion, and always will be. Holiday cottages aren’t for everyone, and if you want a vibrant holiday in loud surroundings, then somewhere chilled out and natural isn’t going to be for you. If however you are looking for a romantic break, or perhaps a family holiday with plenty of scope for outdoor activities, such as cycling, then this could be a great affordable type of holiday with a difference.
We all know that the cost of jetting off somewhere far-flung and exotic isn’t particularly low, and not all of us can afford the high prices during school summer holidays either, so staying close to home, or perhaps jetting to the UK as a difference, could be just the ticket for your summer holiday – keeping your fingers crossed for the weather, of course!
A popular time to visit in terms of this kind of break is Christmas and New Year too. If you don’t want to be at home for New Year in particular, as many people don’t, then spending time chilling in a cottage somewhere beautiful is a great way to let the dawn of a brand new year in.
A long weekend in peace and serenity is also a good break away from normality, especially if work is particularly stressful, and cutting yourself off from the world back home and focusing on you and you alone, is a great way to spend your time.
So, the next time you’re looking for a holiday with a difference, one which will leave you feeling totally Zen and chilled out at the end of it, instead of needing another holiday to recover, consider a holiday cottage, and enjoy the major benefits of a home away from home kind of affair.
