You would be hard pressed to find a person in the world who has visited Dubai and didn’t feel totally overwhelmed by the sheer scale and size of it. There is money dripping from every corner, not literally obviously, but in terms of architecture and business, this is one city that is filled with opportunity.
Of course, it’s not all new attractions that make up this wonderful Emirates city, as there are plenty of whispers of the past to explore in the old part of the city, with souks, winding streets, mosques, and old buildings to spend a day taking in.
One of the most overlooked things about Dubai is its history, and the fact that there is such a diverse range of cultures residing in the city. Many expats and workers from many different countries now live in Dubai, mainly for the business opportunities and great standard of living, and each leave a print on the city to add to the melting pot of diversity already there. Of course on top of this, one of the best things to do when visiting is to spend time seeing the Dubai attractions, of which there are many to choose from!
To get the best view of Dubai and beyond, including the seemingly everlasting desert landscape and the glittering Arabian Gulf, head to the 124th floor observation deck of the Burj Khalifa building. This is the world’s tallest building and one which will give you a stunning 360 degree view. Alternatively, the hop on and hop off bus will show you the major sights without having to trouble your feet too much!
The helicopter sightseeing flight tour will give you a totally different view of the city from high up in the clouds too, and this is a great idea for a special occasion too.
The Mall of the Emirates is the biggest go to for shopping fans, with endless opportunities for flashing the cash. Alternatively, head to Ski Dubai for a chillier way to spend your hours, shoop-shooping in the middle of a desert landscape!
Being close to the desert also gives you the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city if you choose to, and you can either head off for a spot of adrenaline fun with dune bashing, or you can head off on an overnight desert safari instead, and experience the eerie nature of the vast emptiness during the darkness hours!
The United Arab Emirates isn’t just about Dubai, and we should certainly mention the other cities and resorts which are popping up around this vast and money-mad area of the world, such as Abu Dhabi, and anyone who loves motor racing should head to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, for sure! The Arabian Gulf is also rich in marine-life, with plentiful snorkelling opportunities, as well as deep sea fishing just outside of Dubai itself.
If you’re a little on the fence about visiting Dubai, then the best advice is to give it a try. There really is no other place on earth as possibly brash, loud, and in your face, perhaps other than Las Vegas, but Dubai has a more sophisticated difference, and one which is certainly enhanced by such a diverse range of cultures on offer when you visit.
Dubai is certainly one to be on your must visit list.
